Web design in Constanța: a guide for local businesses

What the Constanța web market looks like, what each type of local business needs, local SEO step by step, and the seasonality that governs seaside sites.

A web design studio in Constanța, in coastal light

Web design in Constanța means, in practice, something different from web design in Bucharest. Not through technology — that is the same — but through the local economy: a port with everything international transport and trade bring with it, a coast with pronounced seasonality, a property market that moves in waves, and a high density of small services companies working mainly on referral.

This article is written for companies here. What each type of business needs, how local SEO is done properly, what seasonality means for an accommodation site, and what things cost in the local market. We have worked from Constanța since 2000 and a good part of our portfolio is local, so the examples are real.

Why it matters where the agency is

The work can be done from anywhere. That is true, and it is half the story.

The other half:

Knowing the market. Someone who has built sites for five hotels on the coast already knows that bookings happen in March and April, that photography matters more than copy, and that the customer’s first question is the distance to the beach. It does not have to be explained to them.

Photography. For a site that needs real images — premises, team, products, work — proximity matters. A photo session 200 kilometres away has to be paid for.

The meetings that count. Most conversations can be had remotely. The initial briefing, face to face, is another matter. Things get said in an hour over coffee that do not get said in three emails.

Verifiable reputation. In a city, you can call someone who has worked with your supplier. A local recommendation remains the best filter there is.

When it does not matter

If you need a very narrow specialism that does not exist locally, look for it where it is. Proximity is an advantage, not an absolute criterion.

What each type of business in Constanța needs

Hospitality and accommodation

Hotels, guesthouses, serviced apartments, restaurants.

What matters: photography, before anything else. An accommodation site sells on images, not on copy. Then: clear availability, rates by season, the distance to the beach, parking, what is included.

What is usually missing: a page per room type, with its own address. All the rooms crammed onto one page means one chance of being found.

Seasonality: decisive. See the dedicated section.

Property

Agencies, developers, management.

What matters: a page for each project or development, with its own address and real images. A listing structure with filters that work without JavaScript, so each listing can be indexed.

What is usually missing: old projects deleted from the site after they sell. That is a mistake — a completed project page remains evidence and goes on bringing traffic for years.

Transport, shipping and port services

Forwarding, agency work, storage, domestic and international transport.

What matters: clarity about the services, the certifications, the geographic coverage, the contact details for operations and, often, an English version.

What is usually missing: a separate page for each type of service. Here, more than anywhere, customers search for very specific terms.

Medical services

Practices, clinics, imaging, laboratories.

What matters: a page for each specialty and each investigation, the opening hours, how to book, which insurers are accepted. Correct structured data for the opening hours.

What is usually missing: the information someone needs who is looking for a particular investigation and does not know where it is done in the city.

Construction, fit-out, technical services

What matters: the portfolio, with before-and-after photographs. It is the strongest sales argument in the whole category and it is systematically missed — the photographs get taken on a phone, in a hurry, and stay in somebody’s gallery.

What is usually missing: the area covered, written explicitly. Someone in Ovidiu wants to know whether you will come out to them.

Manufacturing and distribution

What matters: a structured catalogue, with a page for each product or product family, downloadable technical sheets, and an enquiry form. An online store is usually not needed — see A business website or an online store.

What a business website costs in Constanța

Prices in Constanța are comparable to the national average for companies of the same category: a professional business website generally starts at around €1,000 and can go beyond €3,000, depending on the number of pages, who writes the content, and how bespoke the design is. The difference from Bucharest shows more on large projects, where capital-city agencies carry a higher cost base.

The detailed structure of the costs, by tier, is in How much a business website costs in Romania.

Local SEO, step by step

This is the biggest missed opportunity for companies in Constanța. Terms such as web design constanta, creare site constanta or seo constanta have real, steady searches with clear commercial intent — and many local firms have no page targeting them explicitly.

1. Google Business Profile

The most important element of local SEO and the most often neglected.

  • Claim the profile and complete it in full.
  • The right primary category, plus relevant secondary categories.
  • Opening hours kept up to date, including public holidays.
  • Real photographs, added periodically — updated profiles perform better.
  • The services listed individually.
  • Questions and answers filled in proactively.

2. Consistent NAP

Name, Address, Phone — written identically everywhere: on the site, in the business profile, in directories, on social networks.

“Str. Baba Novac nr. 175” and “Strada Baba Novac 175” are, to an algorithm, two different addresses. Choose one form and use it throughout.

3. Structured data

Local business markup, with the address, phone number, opening hours and area served. It is what lets a search engine connect the site to the physical entity.

4. A genuinely local page

Not “Constanța” slipped into the footer. A page that talks about the local market, about the kinds of clients here, with local projects and a visible address. The article you are reading is exactly that.

5. Reviews

The strongest local conversion factor. Ask for them systematically, after every project that ended well. Reply to all of them, including the negative ones — especially the negative ones, calmly and factually.

6. Local citations

A presence in relevant business directories, with identical NAP. Quality matters more than quantity: five serious directories beat fifty spam ones.

Seaside seasonality

For any business tied to tourism, seasonality changes the calendar completely.

When decisions get taken

Period What happens
October – December the window for building or rebuilding the site
January – February content, photographs, rates for the coming season
March – May the peak of searches and bookings
June – August operating; nothing gets touched
September analysing the season

The classic mistake

Rebuilding the site in April. That is, in exactly the period when the bookings happen, with the addresses changing and Google in the middle of reindexing. A new site launched in April recovers in June — after the booking season has passed.

An accommodation site gets rebuilt in autumn. Without exception.

What has to work immaculately

  • The photographs, loading fast on a phone, on a mobile connection.
  • The rates by period, easy to find.
  • The distance to the beach, stated explicitly.
  • The booking form or the phone number, one click away.
  • The map, with the right position.

Local projects from the portfolio

Of the 155 projects in the portfolio, a good number are from Constanța. A few you can look at:

  • Medimar Imagistic Services — medical imaging services.
  • Activ Imobiliare Constanța — estate agency.
  • Break the Code — escape room.
  • Vila Monica, Eforie Nord — seaside accommodation.
  • Hotel Apollonia, Grand Hotel Minerva — hospitality.
  • Kutee — beauty salon.
  • Daune Constanța — consultancy services.
  • Euro Zone — reinforcing steel and metallurgical products.
  • Expert Construct — construction.
  • Constanta.info — a local portal.

The complete list is in the portfolio, filterable by category.

An observation from the data

Some of these names appear in Search Console as search terms through which people reach our site — they look for that company and find the project page. It is practical proof of something we say often: a well-documented portfolio page is living content, not an archive.

Reviews: how to ask and how to reply

The strongest local conversion factor and the worst managed.

Why they matter so much

Someone looking for a local supplier compares three results. At apparently equal quality, they choose the one with more recent reviews and with replies from the company. It is a decision taken in ten seconds, on the basis of two numbers and an impression.

How to ask

The timing matters most. You ask immediately after delivering something that went well — not three months later, not in a general newsletter.

The request is personal, not automated. A message from the person the client worked with, mentioning concretely what they worked on, gets a reply. A generic email saying “leave us a review” does not.

The link is direct. Not “look us up on Google” — a link that opens the review form itself.

Ask systematically. After every project that ended well. Not in bursts, when you remember — a wave of ten reviews in one week looks suspicious and gets treated as such.

What not to do

  • Do not buy reviews. They get detected, and the penalty is removal of the profile.
  • Do not have employees write them. The same category.
  • Do not ask only the satisfied ones, filtered through a prior survey. It is a problematic practice and, in some jurisdictions, a sanctionable one.

How to reply

To all of them. Including the five-star ones, briefly.

To the negative ones, above all. A calm, factual reply that acknowledges what happened and says what was done convinces more than ten positive reviews. Whoever reads it is not looking at the bad score — they are looking at how you react.

Rules for replying to a negative review:

  1. Reply within 24–48 hours, not immediately, in the heat of the moment.
  2. Do not contradict and do not defend yourself in public.
  3. Acknowledge what there is to acknowledge, concretely.
  4. Say what changed as a result.
  5. Move the conversation to private, with a real contact address.
  6. Do not ask for the review to be deleted.

An obviously fake review? Report it through the platform’s channel and reply publicly, briefly and neutrally: we cannot find a project with these details, please get in touch. That is all.

How to write a local page that ranks

“Constanța” slipped into the footer is not local SEO. A local page that works has content that could not be written by someone in another city.

What it contains

The local market, described concretely. What kinds of business are here, what they need, what is particular about them. The article you are reading has a whole section on it.

Local projects, with names. Not “we have worked with companies in the area”, but the list. Local company names are themselves search terms — see below.

Real geographic reference points. Districts, areas, neighbouring towns you serve: Ovidiu, Năvodari, Mangalia, Eforie, Techirghiol.

What is locally specific. Seaside seasonality, port activity, the waves in the property market. Nobody from another city writes that.

The full address and phone number, visible, not only in the footer.

Local business structured data, with the real address and hours.

What does not work

Identical pages for several cities, with the name swapped. “Web design Constanța”, “Web design Tulcea”, “Web design Călărași”, with the same text. That is duplicate content, it gets detected, and none of them ranks.

If you want to cover several cities, each page has to have its own content — projects from there, specifics from there. If you do not have them, do not make the page.

The bonus of client names

An observation from our own data: several local clients from the portfolio appear in Search Console as search terms through which people reach the site. They search for that company — “activ imobiliare constanta”, “medimar constanta”, “break the code constanta” — and find the project page.

It is traffic you would not have anticipated, obtained simply by documenting a project properly. One more argument for a portfolio with a page per project rather than a gallery of images.

How we work with companies outside Constanța

Roughly half our projects are for clients in other counties or other countries. The process is the same, with three differences:

The briefing happens online, by video call, in one or two sessions. It works well with an agenda sent in advance.

Photography is arranged locally. Either we recommend a photographer in the client’s city with a brief written by us, or we travel, if the project justifies it.

Documents circulate electronically. A digitally signed contract, material through a shared folder.

What does not change: the stages, the approval points, the deadlines. A remote project does not take longer than a local one — it takes longer only when material is late, which has nothing to do with geography.
