Domain registration

Choosing a domain is one of the first steps in a web project. It is worth doing carefully, because the name will appear in your website address, in your emails, and across everything you use to communicate.

What matters when you register a domain

We recommend a short name that is easy to spell and to say out loud. The more simply people can remember it and pass it on, the harder it works for the brand. The same name becomes part of your email addresses too — info@yourdomain.ro, for instance.

Depending on your strategy, the domain can include a word relevant to what you do, or it can be a distinct name with room to grow into a brand. What matters is that it is clear, memorable, and suited to the direction you want the business to take.

If you want your site to address customers or users in Romania, a .ro domain is preferable — and it matters that the hosting package you choose sits on a server in a Romanian data centre. A .ro domain is registered for an indefinite period (for now), in line with current legislation and the rules set by RoTLD, the authority that governs internet domains in Romania. To protect the name you have chosen, we recommend registering it across several extensions (.com, .net, .org, .eu, .info and so on) and, if the name is more than two words long, both the hyphenated and unhyphenated versions.

Even if you are not going to use it straight away, it is worth registering the domain you have chosen before it becomes unavailable. We look for suitable options, check availability and compare them. In the end we register the one that fits the business best and can carry a brand over the long term.
